Review: The Natures Co Bearberry and Liquorice Whitening cream

How many of you hate being tanned? Raise your hands!!!!!

I know that if you’re Indian, or Asian or hell most others as well, you’ll probably hate being tanned. Especially if you’ve been roaming around all summer and have gotten your neck darker than your face, face darker than your body and vice versa.

The thing is, most whitening creams have a lot of harmful ingredients in them that isn’t good for most skin types as it leaves out skin sensitive, inflamed and very thin. So what we can do is we can go for home remedies instead to not only protect and nourish our skin but also to remove our tan.

But let’s face it, how many of us have the time or the patience or even the knowledge of what to do to remove a tan at home. Not every home remedy works and after some time it’s easier to buy commercial whitening creams and hope we don’t get a cancer risk or any skin problems. I on the other hand discovered this online.

I recently got badly tanned while on a trip and found that my face and neck and a v shape down my chest (I was wearing a v neck) were about four to five shades darker than the rest of me. So were my hands and knee down to my feet. (Remind me next time to cover up completely when i go outside)

I found this online when I was trying to find the ingredients for the White Pepper Cleansing Lotion. I was a little doubtful about it and a few more products since I couldn’t find ingredient lists and I mailed Natures co asking them if they could mail me ingredients and etc and they were so sweet and send me a few things to review (I’ve already mentioned this but I’m saying it again so you know how excited I am Open-mouthed smile )

The product costs INR 795/- for 50ML. Which isn’t too expensive I’d say considering how this works (continue reading)

This is VERY VERY THICK. It is a very rich cream that gets absorbed very fast but one can feel the thickness.

I have been using it religiously for about two weeks now so I can give you a reasonably reliable account on how well this works. You can see the colour from the pic and I am assuming that you can guess the texture. It doesn’t drip when you turn your palm upside down etc it just stays put. Now that is a thick cream. Smile with tongue out

Did it remove my tan? Yes, actually. Quite reasonably. I mean, unlike chemical creams you won’t see a difference the second you put it on but that’s because this is probably good for your skin.

What the company claims: “Lightens and reduces discoloration and pigmentation.

Lighten your skin the natural way with Bearberry, a natural, highly effective skin lightener and liquorice, which reduces discoloration and pigmentation. At the same time, get deep-down moisturizing for a lighter, smoother and more radiant skin. To use, ensure your skin is freshly cleansed, then massage the cream into your skin and let it absorb.”

When I use this it does remove a tan, makes my skin bright and glowing and most of all, makes my skin look like I’ve been pampering it all my life. But it might be too heavy for my skin. I’ll have to stop using it for a month or so till it gets less hot.

Although I have been using it only at night I have been getting minor breakouts, not the ones that look like it is because my skin doesn’t agree with the product but the kind that comes from too much sweat and humidity. Not to mention that I have been wearing a lot more makeup lately and I’ve been having exam stress. I don’t have major breakouts, just the kind that stays for two days and then vanishes.

When I wake up in the morning I find my skin looking very sweaty (not oily, just sweaty) like I’ve been sweating throughout the night. I would say this product is perfect to use during the winter to remove your summer tan. Or for dry skin.

PROS:

  • Whitens and removes discolouration
  • Absorbs easily
  • Suitable for sensitive skin
  • Very moisturising
  • A little goes a long way
  • Safe to use
  • Makes my skin glow
  • Don’t need a moisturiser in the morning

CONS:

  • Some people might think it’s expensive, for me it’s affordable.
  • Availability might be a problem for some although you can shop online, no cash on deliver option.
  • Not at all suitable for humid climates.
  • Not good for oily skin
  • Packaging is a difficult to carry while ravelling
  • The ingredients list isn’t provided.

So Would I repurchase?

YES, although I think it broke me out it wasn’t because it is bad but because I live in a humid climate and this doesn’t suit humid climates. Since I do travel a lot I can use it in colder climates or climates that are less humid.

I hope you liked my review and if you have used the product, let me know what your review is.

PS: I’d like to thank natures co for being kind enough to send me these products to try out but it hasn’t affected my review in any way.
