I think I may have finally found it. A cream for all my oily/combination/sensitive skin problems. Honestly, I never thought I’d find it in an Indian brand because till recently all the Indian brands that I have tried make heavy greasy creams that really have no place in the Indian climate.
But of late, a lot of Indian brands are starting to finally meet the actual needs of Indian women and I have been very pleasantly surprised by many of these products.
The bottle isn’t as small as it looks but it is small. But it is filled to the brim with product. Contains about 50GMS of product and costs about 445INR. It can be purchased at Iraya stores and online here and here. It is available on Urbantouch for INR400.
What the company claims: Especially formulated for Sensitive skin using lavender, neem, aloevera and turmeric, this cream helps soothe and nourish the skin. It feels perfect on the skin and also reduces irritability. Regular use helps the complexion look healthy and restore the protective epidermal layer of the skin and to strengthen its defences.
Ingredients: Now the ingredients aren’t listed on the site (which sucks) but they are listed on the products. On the website it just says “Ingredients:aloevera, turmeric, lavender” I bet, if I mixed those things together, I wouldn’t get this product.
Now, if a company said that, I would never buy from them. I dislike people who do this and honestly Iraya, doing this stopped me from trying out your products for the longest time even though I saw adverts in magazines etc. Only after I mailed Iraya and asked them did I find out that 30% of the products I had asked about were safe to use on my skin (sensitive) and I bought this.
Above is a picture of the actual ingredients list. And yes it has potassium hydroxide but it hasn’t harmed my skin in any way and I did a patch test for three days continuously. It is safe for my skin. Although I never use products with Hydroxides, this one just works for my skin.
I don’t think I will be using it in the long run though. I don’t want to cause damage to my skin. Also surprisingly, Lavender oil is the LAST ingredient on the list.
Why is it called lavender cream then? Hmph.
The packaging is excellent not to mention 2 years expiry is enough time to finish the product. But I have to say I wish they had put it in a pretty glass pump jar. I am terrified of dropping it. I’ve kept it on the lowest shelf and in absolute safety.
It is alight dirty cream colour and has a very lightweight whipped feeling. The texture is almost the same as the L’oreal Happy Derm which was my favourite face cream and I loved using it. My skin looked fabulous when I was using that but the idiot went and discontinued it. Wish it would come back. But getting back to this one.
Can you see how light it is? I am thoroughly in love with the texture of this cream. It is just slightly heavier than the Shiseido Mattifying Pureness lotion, which I love as well.
Rather odd that it claims to restore the top layer of the skin when there is potassium hydroxide in it. Which, I believe, is a surfactant. Read more about it here. I’m feeling safer because it is the second last ingredient so might just be safe.
Now let me go into the PROS and the CONS.
PROS:
- Inexpensive
- Beautiful packaging
- All the ingredients are listed
- Lightweight, perfect to wear during summer
- Very moisturising but doesn’t leave an oily film
- Leaves the skin looking dewy, not oddly matte
- Definitely reduces pimples, and no new breakouts even though I had my monthly visitor
- Does what it claims to do (soothing)
- I haven’t seen much redness in my face since I started using this
- Skin is looking plump and healthy
- Excellent base for makeup since it makes the skin feel smooth
CONS:
- Smell, but I really don’t give a damn since that vanishes in seconds
- Packaging might be unhygienic for some, I wish it came in a pump jar too but i don’t mind using it like this.
- Contains potassium hydroxide which I am not happy about (let me see if I can find out the percentage and tell you guys)
Would I repurchase? Yes, till I have oily skin, I will repurchase. This has been shifted to my HG products list. I will update you on what product i remove from there.
