This is probably one of the most common face mask recipes in India. But so many people abroad complain that it leaves their face yellow or orange and abuse the mask. Please people, stop. Just because you did the mask wrong doesn’t mean the mask is wrong. And people who don’t know how to do this mask should stop writing posts.
First thing, very fair girls WILL become a little yellow upon using this. Just wash your face with milk and you’ll be fine, if not, wash with lemon juice. I’ve listed the simplest form of making this mask so that you cannot get it wrong. Here goes.
Turmeric is an Asian spice. The root of turmeric, yellow thing, is used extensively in India in food, medicine and beauty preps. It is traditionally used to prevent superfluous hair (although most people have stopped using it for this and forgotten about it, me included) It is an antibiotic, antiseptic and an anti ageing agent. It also keeps skin smooth, healthy, removes a tan and promotes a blemish free visage.
Recipe:
- 2 tbsp. gram flour/ Rice flour/ Kadalai maavu (not sure what this is in English but if you now, YAY)
- Sesame oil 1 tsp.
- 1/2 tsp. turmeric powder (PLEASE use the cosmetic turmeric powder variety not the cooking one)
- Milk – enough to make a paste
